About Us
Nozomi embodies the spirit of the SFVJACC capital campaign. The elders toiled and gave their all hoping that our lives would be better. Although times have changed, family is still important.

The San Fernando Valley Japanese American Community Center was built by the first and second generation Nikkei over sixty years ago. The hard working gardeners and farmers pooled their resources to purchase four acres that we enjoy today.
We want a place that we can be proud of. A place to belong to. A place to bring your friends. As our needs grow, we must envision a safe space where the next generation will play, grow, and gather to celebrate our traditions and enrichment programs.

The San Fernando Valley Japanese American Community Center buildings are 66 years old, with Pioneer Hall, a former Lockheed cafeteria, necessitating ongoing repairs as it ages. The time is right to make this happen for our families. Through the years we have been home to many families and friends who have enjoyed Japanese American experiences. We are asking you to be part of the sansei, yonsei, rokusei and happa world. This is the time for our community to grow together.

Impact of Campaign
The time is right to deliver new facilities and services for our children and grandchildren. We believe in what our family values are and what this community center has to offer. Let’s keep the faith!
